Saul begins to worship himself and God becomes sorry He appointed him king. The devil goes after those in power. We will continue to read of Saul unraveling as a king because He was not obedient to the Lord.
Satan goes after Jesus but to no avail. The desert standoff is won by Jesus who says..."You shall not tempt the Lord your God."
One of the most famous passages in the Bible is in today's proverb..."Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it." This passage is sometimes challenged because of children who do turn away. Does this mean it is not true? I take this passage to mean God's prevenient grace woos all. If we teach children about God, it is far more likely a child will not turn away. Even if they do, as the "prodigal son"...they will return.
